“Poundland Ltd have been using Jeremy Elwell to provide Recruitment Services to its IT Department for the last 17 years. During this time, Poundland has grown substantially and gone from a 50 store UK retail business, to a 1000 store European retail business under brands of Poundland in the UK and Dealz across Europe.

I joined Poundland in 2002 and for the majority of this time myself and the IT team have been using the services of Jeremy Elwell on an almost exclusive basis. In 2009 Jeremy approached me to explain that he had decided to start his own business, Strategic Insights, and to ask if he could continue with our relationship.

Initially Jeremy and Strategic Insights supplied us with an Interim IT Services Manager which then became a permanent position. We retained Jeremy and Strategic Insights on an Executive Search and Selection Campaign basis to deliver this assignment. Jeremy and Strategic Insights successfully delivered exactly what we hoped for and the candidate is still with Poundland today, having been promoted twice and being instrumental in the success of the business.

We have retained Jeremy and Strategic Insights to deliver on many other assignments over the years. Jeremy and his team take the time to meet with us and all of the relevant stakeholders, taking a detailed understanding of our requirement from both a business and individual perspective, and tailor make an appropriate delivery solution. This involves Jeremy and his team conducting an in-depth assessment of each candidate and conducting competency based interviews. Jeremy also uses psychometric assessments and technical testing where necessary. This results in us having a very comprehensive and detailed written interview report on each candidate which has latterly included an embedded video presentation by each candidate to us, which we have found a useful addition to the traditional services Strategic Insights have offered.

Jeremy and Strategic Insights have also provided us with a number of professional IT Contractors and Interim Managers. Similar to the provision of permanent candidates, this has spanned our entire IT department, from Technical Infrastructure roles, to Development and Business Intelligence positions as well as PMO based roles and the recruitment of my own Senior IT Leadership Team. Jeremy and Strategic Insights have done an excellent job in managing the contract and interim resources for us. Jeremy and Strategic Insights work with us all to help ensure the successful delivery of the assignment by the contractor, with a comprehensive handover to me and my permanent team, where required.
